PressReader is the beast in newspaper readers for your smart phone / tablet. Period.
The newspaper company stocks have seen new lows in recent years. The main reason being the popularity and the accessibility of online content. People have been ditching the paper version of their favorite daily regularly.
I mean yes, there are still some folks who prefer the real feel of the newspaper in their hand with their morning cup of coffee. I also haven’t gotten over that as yet! But the fact is undeniable that newspapers are getting a bit obsolete, if not completely redundant. At least, you always want an alternative to the print newspaper, especially when you are either trotting across continents on jets, or just catching a shuttle-bus to your school.
PressReader to the rescue
While many of us are satisfied with the various news websites (newscompanydotcom), some of us still prefer the digital version of the print newspapers. The problem is, not all daily’s provide an e-paper for their online visitors (a digital replica of the printed newspaper). That’s where the PressReader comes to rescue.
PressReader app provides you with a massive repository of over 2300 newspapers and magazines from all over the world. It’s the print version of your favorite daily on your smart phone or tablet!
The app is excellent on tablets and great on your smartphone! And gives you the real feel of reading a news paper. The graphics and text look great when zoomed, though some publications differ from the other. So expect a better than the real paper experience if you are looking for crisp graphics and text!
There is even a read-aloud mode, though it gets a bit boring after sometime as it sounds like a 70′s radio show playing you the news, and you’d rather flip through the pages by your self, just like you’d do in a real newspaper. But that’s just an added bonus!
The interface is pretty simple to use. Once you select “source,” that provides you with a list of publications arranged by country or language. Simply select your choice of newspaper or magazine, you would then be taken to a download screen.
There is also an option to download the supplements automatically, along with an auto-delivery option.
You can pinch the screen to zoom in and out, to view exceptionally high resolution images and text. Or, simply tap on the title of the article to open the article window.
A bit about pricing plans
PressReader is ideal for people who are on the move, corporate globe-trotters, teachers, and students alike. If you are a casual reader, you can download the copy of your favorite magazine or newspaper for just $.99 in pay-as-you-go, which isn’t bad at all!
The monthly subscription’s priced at $29.95 per month, which seems a bit pricey. But considering 2,300+ newspapers and magazines on your fingertips. It’s not much!
You can check out the corporate pricing plans and other pricing details over here.
With that said, if they could come up with a cheaper subscription plan, for people who’d like to subscribe to only one newspaper per month, this is probably gonna be a deal breaker for most smart phone / tablet owners out there.
With over 2,300 full content newspapers and magazines, from over 100 countries in over 55 languages…
PressReader is single-handedly the beast in newspaper readers!
The PressReader app is available for all platforms, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows. You can download the PressReader app for free, and check out the 7 free downloads they provide as a try-before-you-subscribe, before you decide to spend your buck!
If you’re looking for reading newspapers on-the-go, then PressReader is surely the way!
